Recent Domain Name sales indicate that 3-letter dot coms are still selling at a fast pace. These trends always keep dot com names holding strong as the most sought after domain extension.
It seems that this past week Sedo hit a home run with their domain sales taking up 18 spots on Ron Jackson’s weekly DN Journal sales report.
GoDaddy snagged the Number 1 spot on the 2016 Top Sales chart on May 11, 2016 pulling 1.2 million for LA.com.
Sedo, one of the largest domain resellers, tracks domain sales trends and provides some interesting stats:
As you can see, the average price for a Dot Com domain continues to increase. With the average domain price sliding in at 4701 USD in the second quarter of 2015.
The figures for the last half of 2015 and the first half of 2016 are not available yet.
The first half of 2015 showed that Dot Coms still dominate the sales charts however, Austism.rocks slipped in at number 9 for $100,000 USD.
If you are wondering how the new extension are selling, here is Sedo’s chart for the first half of 2015. I think each of these domains are ones that work especially well with the new extension. These are good examples of how the new extensions can provide value to the end user.
